The InterContinental Ljubljana hotel was officially opened today with the ceremonial handing over of the keys.
Hotel InterContinental Ljubljana represents an investment of the Serbian company Delta Holding worth EUR 50 million. The hotel has 165 rooms, a restaurant on the 20th floor and a spa center on the 18th with a view of the entire city. It is the only five-star hotel in Ljubljana and the tallest building in the city.
The hotel is owned by Delta Holding, but will operate under the standards, rules and criteria of the IHG Group. The hotel received its first guests at the end of August and already in the first weeks it recorded an average occupancy of more than 50%.
“Today we all have reason to be proud, because in Ljubljana we are officially opening the first InterContinental Hotel on the stretch from Mount Triglav to the Black Sea. I want to especially thank the Government of the Republic of Slovenia, because here in Slovenia we had working conditions that every investor should have”, said Marija Desivojević Cvetković at the beginning of her address to the guests.
The ceremony was attended by high government officials from Slovenia and the countries of the region, leaders of the City of Ljubljana, the highest representatives of the InterContinental Hotel Group, embassies, business, and the media.
“A hotel like this cannot be created by accident. It takes a lot of work, persistence, effort and love for the hospitality industry, which can be seen through this hotel and our people. It all starts with the owner of the hotel, Mr. Mišković. His vision of this hotel and the hotel industry in this market was crucial. Delta Holding is a very strong partner and we are very excited to grow together here and in Serbia. I don’t think there is a better partner than Delta who can bring InterContinental to Slovenia”, said Angela Brav, CEO of InterContinental Hotel Group for Europe.
The guests were also addressed by Zoran Janković, the Mayor of Ljubljana, who followed the construction of the hotel from the beginning, as well as the then regional CEO of IHG, who said that the formula for the success of InterContinental Ljubljana is the synergy of Delta Holding, the IHG Group and the support of the City of Ljubljana.
